How to Create a Consistent Social Media Feed Aesthetic

This is a common question and concern. You’ve been consistent with your posts, you try to jive with similar topics, you take high quality, relevant photos...but you can’t seem to find consistency in the aesthetic. What domino effect problem does this cause? A lack of consistency in audience engagement! Double whammy. Here are a few things we’d like to point your attention towards to help remedy this problem and gain a devoted, attentive following on your small business or influencer pages…

High Quality Editing Tools and Apps

  • Make a small but valuable investment in a good editing app such as Adobe Lightroom, then get to work on truly learning how to use it properly! There’s a plethora of video tutorials and books out there to help you. If you still find yourself struggling, seek out an online course!

  • Create or purchase presets, and USE THEM. If you aren’t able to create an editing preset you’re happy with, look into purchasing a package of them from an experienced influencer or professional and apply the same couple to all of your photos. Don’t be afraid to mix it up but stay within the same patterns and tones for consistency.

  • Create a mock feed! Building a mock feed to plan your posts, photos, aesthetic, color palette etc ahead of time is a great tool in maintaining visual uniformity. When you partner with Brand|Uncommon, this is something we can build with or for you to help kickstart your successful social feed!

Do you have to wear or use all neutral colors or nothing but foliage based backgrounds? No, friend. Color it up if that’s your vibe! Just make sure the lighting and tones used throughout your photos create a similar visual appeal

FIND and KNOW Your Audience

  • Once you know what audience you are marketing to, research!! Find out what the trends are for these groups and subgroups of people. Take notes from influencers and small businesses who have similar target audiences.

  • Look up visual trends regarding the topics you’re sharing about or the products and services you provide. This will help you build your own unique style based off what has proven to work.

  • USE your ANALYTICS!! This is crucial in more aspects than just finding the most efficient aesthetic that also matches your vibe. Using your social media and website analytics will help you identify trends and ride the wave on visuals, styles, and topics your followers take a liking to!

Build a Brand Kit

As much as we love the “just go for it” mind set, building, and maintaining a successful social media page does take a great deal of effort, planning and dedication. Building a brand kit or creating a style board that contains all the colors, fonts, logos, watermarks, keywords, catch phrases etc. that you want to roll with will not only help you maintain a consistent aesthetic, but will take some of the guess work and design planning away from each post you prepare.

A consistent brand aesthetic can help set you apart from your competitors! It sets the tone and mood of your brand while also giving your consumers and target audience a visual overview of your brand personality.
